I was at SMX Convention Center today to attend a photo and printing convention. After attending the convention I went to the mall to window shop first before going home to avoid the traffic. As I went around the mall, I noticed a lot of people carrying Uniqlo bags. There were a lot of streamers that are hung at the mall's ceiling announcing the opening of Uniqlo which was today.
I asked the manager at Mrs. Field's where Uniqlo is and he told me that there is a very long line just to get in. True enough, when I went up to the second floor, the lines just to get inside was so long that it will take you almost an hour just waiting. I saw the merchandise from outside since the layout of the mall is open. It seems the designs are just basic color of cotton shirts and pants.
I applaud the marketing efforts of this brand. I think they hired the right people to promote their brand in the Philippines.
I did not bother to fall in line because I'm not really a fan of sale items. Shopping on sale makes you buy things that you don't really need.
Another thing is that if I go shopping, I don't want to be hurried upon.
I would eventually visit Uniqlo some other time when this hype will die down.
